By addressing the needs of contemporary living through traditional architecture a sense of timelessness is created in this country cottage. Indigenous materials that compliment the natural environment were used to enhance the relationship between the house and its rural surroundings. This relationship between house and environment is further strengthened by the scale and proportion of the architecture and through the balance of light and shadow. The thoughtful placement of the cottage on the site, which was inspired by the local farmhouses, barns, and stone walls, helps preserve the view sheds of the surrounding country side.
