One of the important aspects of architecture and especially the work we do at Peter Zimmerman Architects is the relationship between the architecture and the site.  Beginning at the Master Planning phase, we often start by designing around the most meaningful or interesting view a site can offer; positioning the house and outbuildings in such a way that we use the natural light and topography to help frame the views and make beautiful outdoor rooms and spaces. The connectivity of the inside spaces and outdoor rooms helps enhance the project as a whole, and while these spaces have always been important, with COVID-19 in our lives there is a greater appreciation and need for outdoor rooms.  As we have navigated through the past two years, outdoor spaces have become the preferred place for entertaining. The importance of these spaces now start to increase the necessity for such designs, as the need for outdoor entertaining becomes paramount.  This not only dictates the size and scale of these spaces, but also how we might think of creative ways to use them year-round, especially in colder climates.
