This modern natatorium is proposed to be added to the existing pool house that sits along side the remnants of a large barn that once served the property. The design considers the history of the stone structures of the barn and infills it with glass to allow for a blending of the interior and exterior spaces. Each 5’ x 8’ piece of glass panel opens via a push of a button to create a feeling of an outdoor pavilion.
A green roof helps regulate the precise interior temperatures required for an indoor pool. The modern utilitarian aesthetic of steel and stone is softened on the interior with spa-like finishes such as bleached walnut for the ceilings and a mosaic opal tile pool finish that sparkles in the light of the rippling water.
